Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a phytochemical chemical from plants found in 1940. It is a popular alternative medicine ingredient, accounting for more than 40%. While CBD has some similarities to THC CBD doesn’t possess the similar euphoric effects. CBD instead works to block certain immune cells from triggering certain tumor inflammations. While many people believe that CBD has many advantages however, it is important to note that CBD is still extremely potent and may cause serious adverse effects if it is consumed in large quantities.
Since the beginning of time it has been established that CBD can be used to replace alcohol in the treatment of anxiety disorders. The University of Pittsburgh’s Michael J. Gerber and his colleagues have made the most recent discovery. They published their findings in Journal of Human Evolution. The Pittsburgh lab has recently been used in the development of F.D.A. cannabidiol.
Gerber’s study revealed that “the main reason we were successful was identifying the compounds that provide us with the highest quality without any negative side effects that are typical in CBD.” The past was when CBD has only been thought of as a psychoactive compound with no medicinal benefits. CBD is not an amino acids; it’s a phytochemical which is derived from the endocannabinoids that are found in cannabis, hemp, and some other kinds of plants. They function as a natural antidepressant. Recent research conducted at John Hopkins University have confirmed that CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and could reduce the incidence of seizures in children suffering from uncontrolled epilepsy.
Although CBD is generally regarded to be safe, with occasional caution, there is no evidence to suggest that CBD provides any health advantages when used with other medicines. Numerous research studies about CBD and its active components have been conducted on animals that were given CBD along with other medications. While there is not much information about CBD’s long-term toxicity for humans however, there is evidence to suggest that CBD can be toxic in certain situations.
Recent findings from the US House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Power suggest that CBD may possess some psychoactive properties. In particular, the committee was interested in studying the effects of CBD on patients who were prescribed Dronabinone which is an anti-epileptic medication that is used to treat heroin addiction. The committee concluded that Dronabinol can be effective in decreasing the desire to be high and the desire to take the same amount again in order to feel better. However the report didn’t clarify which other drugs, if any, are employed in conjunction with CBD to treat the pain of narcotics.
It is not clear from the available evidence the extent to which CBD is as effective at relieving anxiety as an illicit drug like cannabis, or even more effective than psychostimulants like Ritalin. CBD is a chemical compound that is similar to that of cannabis (cannabis, the sativa). This means that CBD likely has a lower impact on the user’s mental well-being than psychoactive pharmaceuticals like cannabis. There are no adverse effects reported for CBD in humans. CBD may be able to alleviate anxiety and/or chronic seizures in dogs, since epilepsy sufferers have been treated with CBD. It may also possess serotonergic properties that can reduce anxiety in humans. However, the CBD does not appear to have any serotonergic effects in humans.
In addition to the reported absence of adverse effects, there is some evidence that CBD may prove beneficial as a natural cure for a variety of common ailments such as migraine headaches, asthma, indigestion, menstrual disorders and menstrual pains and is effective in treating recreational marijuana use. But, CBD cannot currently be used by minors because it has not been approved by the US government to be sold as a prescribed drug. Although hemp is grown in most parts of the USA, CBD tends to be found in the southern half of the country, in states like Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. The production rates differ based on the availability of industrial hemp. According to hemp advocates, the federal government has not yet approved cultivation of CBD as a medicine or for medical purposes.
Although CBD does not have the same mind-altering effects as THC however, it has been shown in some instances to decrease nausea. There is evidence that CBD could assist with seizure and anxiety disorders. The sole health benefit known of CBD as previously mentioned, is the reduction in appetite that withdrawal from alcohol causes. Because CBD is typically consumed by smoking rather than ingestion like THC, it may have fewer side effects than cannabis. CBD is not as psychoactive or mind-altering as cannabis, and therefore is less risky as compared to smoking cannabis. As mentioned above it is necessary to conduct more research to assess the full health benefits of CBD in comparison to cannabis.
