Navigating

Next

This service provides the driving directions between any two locations, the corresponding route map, real-time navigating instructions to the destination and the map of the current location.

Similar to Locating, Navigating also allows you to use the current GPS location ("HERE", "H" or "h"), a NAC, a street address, a street intersection, a ZIP/Postcode, a POI or a city to specify the start or end location or both (Picture 1).

Once both the start and end locations and the GPS updating time interval are specified, the user can press softkey "OK" to get the total distance, total driving time and turn-by-turn driving instructions (Picture 2).

Pressing softkey "Route" on the screen will get the corresponding route map (Picture 3). Since the screen is very small and the real map is about twice in the length and width of the screen size, you can use the arrow buttons on the cellphone to move the map up, down, left and right.

If you press softkey "Nav" on the Route map screen, it will start the real-time navigating to continuously update the current location and distance to the next action (Picture 4) extracted from the driving directions list (Picture 2) with the same order number for easy reference. Here we adopt a text description instead of a graph to show an arrow to the left/right to eliminate confusions in many situations such as you need to drive to the rightest lane to make a left turn on a highway.

During the navigating, you can press softkey "Back" to go back to the route map which will show your current location and heading (the black triangle of Picture 5).

If you want to see the local map of your current location, pressing softkey "Map" on the Navigating screen will show a large scale map with an icon representing your current location and heading (Picture 6).

Note, the real-time navigating will work only when you are on the way to the destination, otherwise it will show "Out of the route" message. If you have really missed a turn and are really out of the original planned route, you can use "HERE" or "H" or "h" as the new start location and keep the original end location to get the new driving directions, route map and real time navigating instructions again because the GPS will know exactly where your current location is.

Due to random errors of GPS and complicated road shapes, sometimes, Locamagic may disply wrong navigating instruction, especially "Out of the route" message. In that situation, you should check the route map and the local large scale map and turn-by-turn instructions to determine whether you are really out of the route.

With the Navigating service, you will always know how to drive to your destination from either the current location or any specified location, and will never get lost.
