Friends monitoring is originally designed for a group of friends who want to
share their current location information when they are driving, camping,
fishing, skiing, boating, flying, hiking, etc. With this service, they will
know the exact location of each other without worries to lose the contacts
of any friends. However, this service can also be used for vehicle tracking
for a fleet with up to 100 vehicles.
The first screen of Friends monitoring on the cellphone is shown on Picture 1 on which you can select "Add Friend" or "Show Friends" option. It also shows your own userid on the title pane, that you need to tell your friends who you want to monitor the locations of each other. "Add Friend" option (Picture 2) will let you add your friend into your account. You have to get the user id of your friend and tell your friend your user id. Simply adding the user id of your friend on your cellphone will not show your friend on this service until your friend has also added your user id into his/her account. This is a mutual agreement to protect the privacy of each other. If the friend is successfully added, you will receive a message as shown on Picture 3. You can continue adding your friends until all of them have been added. Having added all the friends into your account and so having your friends, you can select "Show Friends" to get a map (Picture 4) to show the locations of all your friends. Note, in order to get the locations, you and your friends have to run the Tracking service on each of your cellphones to update all you and your friends' latest locations onto the server. On the map, the red flag represents your own location and the numbered icons represent your friends. So you can quickly know the relative location of each of your friends. Pressing softkey "List" will show you a list of all the friends. You can use up and down buttons to see the icon number, name, NAC and cellphone number of each friend on the list (Picture 5). The icon numbers are the numbers shown by the icons on the map so that you will know exactly where each friend is. Pressing softkey "Select" will give you a list of options (Picture 6) for you to select. "Drive to" will give you the total distance, time to drive to, and turn-by-turn driving directions, route map and real-time navigating instructions for you to drive to the location of the selected friend. "Locate at" will give you the nearby street addresses and location information and maps of the location of the selected friend. "Search at" will let you make a local search of businesses and facilities near the selected friend. "Call" will let you directly call your friend without the need to type the phone number. "Delete" will delete the selected friend from your friends list so that both you and the selected friend will not able to see each other. Therefore, everybody has the power to stop others seeing his/her location whenever he/she wants. You or your friends can also use a desktop computer connected to the Internet to monitor all the friends on a map and a list (Picture 7). This is just like the screen of many other vehicle tracking software. You can pan the map in all directions, and zoom in all scales by clicking the arrow buttons on the map frame or the scale bars on the right of the map. You cam also retrieve any map in the world with a NAC using the query on the top right corner of the screen. You can use this feature to get the map of any Universal Address (i.e. eight or ten character NAC) obtained from other people too. If you want to see the detail of an icon on the map, you can use the number on the icon to find the detail information on the list or simply move the cursor onto the icon which will display the detail on its tooltip. The friends location will not be updated in the opened map window. If you want to see the new updates of the friends locations, you need to close the opened map window and then open it again. With the Friends monitoring service, you can manage a group of moving objects anywhere in the world no matter they are people, trucks, boats or airplanes. It's a simple and economic solution for all these applications. |
